What's the main difference between Hikvision/Hilook/Dahua cameras and Other Wifi wireless cameras?

1. Understand that this is not a "plug and play" product. Do not expect to simply plug in an ethernet cable, install the software, click an icon and simply click "record". You may need to have a minimal understanding of configuring IP addresses and ports.

2. Computer - Understand that when you are recording HD video you need to have either a dedicated NVR or Computer with Decent Memory, fast hard drive (Surveillance Drives or SSDs), and a good video card.

3. The camera needs POWER - if you are planning on mounting be sure you know how you are going to get power to the camera. You can either power the camera with a power outlet (12v DC plug is usually NOT included) or PoE (Power over Ethernet). Virtually everyone uses PoE since you already have the ethernet cable going to the camera, you might as well send the power with it. DO NOT EXPECT MOST HOME ROUTERS AND SWITCHES TO BE ABLE TO SEND POWER TO THE CAMERA. You will probably need a PoE injector.
